Throughout the years, it has also served as a finishing school for young women, a Civil War hospital, and a women's college, and it opened as a hotel in 1935, paying tribute to its historic legacy with gracious Southern hospitality and the genteel elegance of period antiques and furnishings. The hotel offers 51 guestrooms and 11 suites, each individually decorated with antiques and all the fine amenities and services expected from a luxury hotel. To satisfy a variety of tastes, the hotel offers two restaurants, including Sisters, which serves American cuisine in an intimate, cozy atmosphere.
