It was a successor of the original West Point Hotel and is named for Colonel Sylvanius Thayer- Superintendent of the Academy from 1817 to 1833. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places- The Thayer Hotel is the only full-service hotel on the Hudson River from the George Washington Bridge to Albany. The majestic- Gothic-style- granite building sits at the south entrance to the U.S. Military Academy- offering dramatic views of the Hudson River and the Hudson Highlands. The Thayer Hotel completed a 26 million dollar restoration in 1999 and additional renovations in 2003-2004. Today- The Thayer Hotel offers 151 beautiful guest rooms and ten meeting rooms for events from 15 to 300 people. Directions To The Thayer Hotel

SWF- Stewart Airport- 25 miles N . Turn left out of Airport parking lot. Follow straight to traffic light and make a left onto Route 207. At the fourth light- make a left. Take the 9W South exit to the second West Point/Highland Falls Exit. Follow signs towards the visitors center until reaching Thayer Gate South Gate. The Thayer Hotel is just beyond the gate on the right. When you enter Thayer Gate the hotel will be on your right. Presentation of identification will be required for all passengers over the age of 16. Acceptable forms of identification include but are not limited to- a valid driver license- valid state identification- valid passport- etc. The hotel parking lot is located on your immediate left. The guards at the security check point will advise you to take a left after the security check area and then make a sharp left into The Thayer Hotel parking lot. Please call our bell staff from your cell phone at 845-446-4731- press 0 and ask for golf cart assistance. You will be provided a ride to the front door of the hotel. If you prefer to drop your luggage off prior to parking your vehicle- and after first clearing the security check point- you may drive back around the athletic field. The field is to your left as if you were going to exit the same gate just entered. Follow signs to Thayer Gate/ The Thayer Hotel and as you approach the gate and continue straight up the hill toward the hotel. You may leave your luggage with a member of our bell staff prior to parking your vehicle.
