These paths are not continuous and cyclists must walk their bikes across intervening thorough fares to the next trail. Bicycles and skates can be rented at six sites along the route. * The Forrest Preserve District maintains more than 70 miles of trails bicyclists can ride continuously on the North Branch Class 1 bicycle trail from Caldwell and Devon to lake county about 20 miles north. The trail winds along the north branch of the Chicago River/Skokie Lagoons and through the Chicago botanic garden.
